Dave’s Fresh Pasta in Somerville

May 8, 2017

Among the many reasons to love Davis Square in Somerville, MA is Dave’s Fresh Pasta. Located just past the center of the square is a fresh, authentic, charming market for all of your fresh pasta, meat, cheese, sandwich and wine needs. Upon approaching the pasta station you are greeted by numerous varieties of fresh pasta and ravioli to choose from. The best part? You get to watch them make it right in front of you! This never gets old - I could watch that machine all day long. A few of my favorites: butternut squash ravioli, mushroom ravioli and the whole wheat pasta cut fettuccini style. Don’t wait till the end of the day to go or they might be out of your favorite! You can select your desired portion size or ask for recommendations based off of how many people you are cooking for. If you don’t want to cook it right away you can refrigerate up to two days. Dave’s also has delicious homemade sauces to compliment whatever type of fresh pasta you choose.

Another great thing about Dave’s: the fresh sandwiches MTO - they come out hot in about five minutes. The one to make you foodgasm?? The prosciutto and fig on foccacia - the combination of sweet fig, jam, thinly sliced salty prosciutto, fresh mozz and arugula between the grilled bread will take you to another world. This is not a joke people.

Dave's also has gluten free packaged pasta that is veryy tasty if I may say so myself. If I didn’t know it, I would not know it’s gluten free. Seriously. I highly recommend trying it if you have dietary restrictions but still like to enjoy a big ole bowl of carbs.

The service at Dave’s is ok  - the pasta staff is very friendly and helpful, but the people at check out can be a little standoffish. Don’t let that deter you from going though because once you taste that pasta or bite into that sandwich all of your troubles will melt away.
