Roxy's (Rocks My World) Grilled Cheese

November 3, 2017

Several years ago I discovered the magic that is Roxy’s Food Truck. During one of my first trips to SOWA (South End Farmer’s Market) I stumbled over to their truck, trying to manage a hangover from last night’s festivities. I saw that they had been on Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race and upon studying their menu and seeing that they excelled in grilled cheese, I knew I had to partake.

Step up the Green Muenster. There are no words to describe what this sandwich does to the soul. Fun fact: my first ever foodgasm was from a Roxy’s Grilled Cheese. This sandwich has the perfect ratio of avocado spread, bacon and muenster, grilled to the perfect crispiness on Iggy's organic Pain de Mie bread.

No matter how early you get to SOWA, there will always be a line at the Roxy’s Food Truck. And it’s always worth the wait.

Shortly after I discovered Roxy’s my sister was in town visiting. Our plan had been to go to their restaurant in Allston as SOWA was over for the season. Well one thing led to another and we were running out of time to schlep over there from Somerville before her train. My sister Trudy was very disappointed she wasn’t going to get to try Roxy’s, especially after I had hyped it up so much. I felt like a Masshole.

As we are walking through Harvard Square we came across a row of food trucks and nestled in between them was Roxy’s! Huzzah! Hallelujah! Praise the good food lord! It was a grilled cheese miracle!

Trudy and I each ordered a Green Muenster and split an order of truffle fries. Whoever invented the concept of truffle fries, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. They are incredible. Salty with a touch of truffle oil and seasoning, but not overpowering. Trudy was very impressed, Roxy’s had lived up to the hype.

If you are more of a classic grilled cheese guy or gal they have a three cheese. If you like to experiment foodgasmically then I highly recommend trying one of their other varieties too including the Hot Honey Bacon and Mighty Rib Melt.

It’s such a simple concept – bread and cheese and a few toppings if you wish, but with the right amount of buttah and TLC on the grill, it is pure Nirvana. I only ever wish it was twice as big.
